EAPC World Congress 2025

Members of the BETTER-B team recently attended the 18th World Congress of the European Association for Palliative Care (EAPC) that was held in Helsinki, Finland over 29 – 31 May 2025.

Professor Irene Higginson, principal investigator for the BETTER-B trial co-chaired a session on ‘Caring for those with Respiratory Problems’ along with Professor David Currow (also part of BETTER-B). Professor Irene presented on  ‘Patient and caregiver experiences and motivations in an international trial of mirtazapine for severe breathlessness in respiratory diseases (BETTER-B)’. She also presented a poster, "Support of an ethics advisory board in a large international research programme on severe breathlessness in advanced respiratory diseases (BETTER-B)".
